Manhyia South MP Distributes Over 2,000 Desks, Tables & Chairs To Schools [Photos]

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has presented hundreds of desks both local and foreign, tables, chairs among others to some selected schools in the constituency.

The gesture, according to the MP, was to promote teaching and learning in the schools which has been one of his topmost priority, as far as education is concerned.

The items donated, included 52 hexagonal tables for kindergarten, 300 chairs for kindergarten, 510 mono desks for Junior High Schools (JHS), 300 dual desks for primary schools as well as 400 foreign desks for Serwaa Nyarko Girls Senior High School (SHS) which are all under Manhyia South.

Announcing the presentation on his Facebook wall sighted by the, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who is also the Minister of Energy said, “It is always a delight to be in my constituency, Manhyia South, discharging my primary duty as a Member of Parliament, interacting with my constituents and addressing their concerns”.

Affectionally called ‘NAPO’ he mentioned that, “Yesterday was no different. I presented furniture to selected Basic Schools and one Senior High School in my constituency.  The donation included 52 Hexagonal Tables for KG, 300 Chairs for KG, 510 Mono Desks for JHS, 300 Dual Desks for Primary Schools, and 400 Foreign Desks for Serwaa Nyarko Girls SHS.”

According to him, the donation came on the back of requests from the beneficiary schools through the Metro Directory of Ghana Education Service (GES).


He appealed to heads of the various schools to ensure the proper care of the items to promote effective teaching and learning.

The MP, also used the opportunity to encourage all schools in the constituency not to relent on their efforts, but continue to be the best in the region and strive to be the best nationwide.


Dignitaries present at the short ceremony included; Mr David Oppong- Metro Director – GES, Mr Martin Addis Fordjour- Head of Supervision GES, Kumasi, Mr Asante Twum Albert, Mr Peter Gyemfi- Head of Supply and Logistics, Nana Yeboah Asiamah- PRO, GES, Kumasi Metro, including all heads of basic schools in the constituency.

All Assembly members from the six electoral areas in the constituency, officials from the Manhyia Sub-Metro, pupils and students as well as party executives were also present.
